The following have allegedly been published by Avrupa with the seditions intention of inciting hatred against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and humiliating its government. The
Attorney General of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) accuses
Avrupa Ltd, Shener Levent the editor of Avrupa and İzzet İzcan, the
General Secretary of the Patriotic Unity Movement of publishing material
with the seditious intention of creating hatred against and humilitaing
the state, contrary to articles 20, 47 (b) and 48(a) of Act 154 of the
penal code.
The accused, on 28.07.1999 in Nicosia, on the 2nd page of Avrupa, dated 28.07.1999, serial numbered 679, published material signed by Izzet Izcan, General Secretary of the Patriotic Unity Movement, seditiously intending to create hatred against and humiliate the state, with the following seditious lines: “-The regime in the North of Cyprus which is completely devoid of any sense of the rule of law, with the orders of the military, attacked the residents of the house on the way from Dikmen to Boghaz and ruined them.”
