My head is aching to the point of bursting. My brain is throbbing with pain. As I was searching the TV channels for the evening news what did I see?

The Star TV channel was broadcasting what the family at Dikmen went through like a film with subtitles.

In other words Turkey’s president, government, military, police and people were watching what was going on here… But our media is almost bypassing the incident. The so-called prime minister and his partner in the government and the so-called opposition helplessly say that it is Shener Levent and Avrupa newspaper that caused the escalation of the situation.

Can you imagine to what a political party has been brought down to?

Anyway; let’s put these aside now…

I all of a sudden felt the pain of my head declining and began to think.

What a sorry state we have been pushed into? We have become a community, which can neither respond non-react. Imagine. A civil servant at the Kyrenia customs is beaten by a military sergeant. No one cares. The Avrupa newspaper takes up the issue; publishes a news-story. The concerned again do nothing. Shener Levent and Avrupa are declared as traitors.

And now Cemal Uğurşan and his family are thrown out of their house. He is evicted from the demolished building, which he turned into a house by borrowing money and by feeding his children less.

It is Shener Levent and Avrupa that get the blame again.

They are again being accused of informing the public.

Who are the accusers?

Those who have surrendered to the established order and status quo.

They say that Shener and Avrupa have exaggerated the incidents and provoked the people etc.

You schophants!…

What constitution?

A citizen is being evicted from his house despite the constitution.

What does our constitution say?

The state is under the obligation to provide housing for its citizens.

Well; those who have drafted this constitution; where are you? The president, the prime-minister, the so called parliament, the attorney general who is in the habit of expressing his opinion almost on every subject, and the others?

Where are you?

Very high price increases are imposed.

The community doesn’t react. Come on; the Turkish Cypriot labourers, shop keepers, farmers, civil servants and all the Cypriots…stand on your feet.

Get rid of your lethargy.

Let’s save our country.

Let’s save our sovereignty.

Let us, as the downtrodden and scorned Turkish Cypriots save our honour.
