Patriotic Unity Movement (YBH) Youth Statement on the forced visit of the youth to the military camps

They are trying to create an obedient generation by "brain washing" and  "psychologically oppressing using military powers"

YBH Youth board evaluated the attacks by the leadership against the  opposition and using chauvinist, militarist "educational" tools such as  taking the youth to military camps.

In this period when the international pressure for the solution of the  Cyprus problem is increasing, the leadership is forming a layer of  oppresion on the youth. They are trying to create an obedient generation  by "brain washing" operations.

Recently, middle school and lycee students are taken to military camps  and force fed militarist ideologies under the disguise of "National  Security Lessons".

Along with this, they are forced to view military exercises with live  amnunition.

Photos in the press show young people posing with weapons. The picture created by all this does not fit in any criteria of modern life. The real reason for regime in north Cyprus to use this sort of "forced"  education which could negatively effect the physical and phychilogical  development of the youth is to use "brain washing" and "psychological  oppression using military powers" to create an obedient generation. They are increasing their outdated, chauvenistic methods for these reasons. Under these conditions it is impossible to claim for a modern education  and raising healthy human beings.

YBH youth considers it to be a main requirement of modern, pluralist life  to replace the militarist, chauvinist elements in the education system  with modern, democratic, scientific elements.

YBH youth can not accept the intervention by the military into the  civilian life and calls the progressive , patriotic youth to struggle  against the military intervention.
