There is need to recognize Greek Cypriot crimes against Turkish Cypriots in the period of 1963-1974. The issue of the missing Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots is also related to the key issue of recognizing past crimes. The Cyprus Action Network supports the recent efforts to prepare and publicize a list of Turkish Cypriot missing and proceed to exhumations in the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus . We believe however, that more could be done in acknowledging the hate crimes of 1963 and 1967, especially in official government statements and in the media and public education. We also urge the international community to press the Turkish and Turkish Cypriot authorities to reciprocate these efforts with a similar project in the North, in order to recover information on the Greek Cypriot missing.
